Prades ja te permís to build the future astronomical observatory

The Parc Astronòmic Muntanyes de Prades is more likely to have the future observatory, the most powerful in Europe dedicated to dissemination. The City Council has the permission of the Generalitat to build dalt d’un altiplà just davant del poble.

The new equipment, for which the project will now be drawn up, is estimated at 3 million euros. The consistory is looking for finances and vol- ume to support the European adjustments. The observation center will complement the visitor center building which, in turn, also presents novelties.

For the first time, we offer immersive audiovisual spectacles of light and darkness, unique to Catalonia. ‘Kosmos’, which premieres today in a room decorated with a space ship, has sold out tickets at the end of March.

The shows, both very well supported, will remain on the bill throughout the year. Fan of a totally remodeled room designed for these audiovisual projects. ‘Kosmos’, as a tribute to Karl Sagan, is a three-screen project, with a space ship aesthetic.

“We have a change of xip and offer annual shows that are unique to Catalonia and I would say that all of the State because they merge the performing arts and scientific dissemination,” says Aleix Roig, director of the astronomical park.

A cop finished the show Cosmos, the visitors will be able to watch a planetarium session and an astronomical observation. The other audiovisual, ‘Selene’, represents a rescue trip to the Moon and is especially aimed at families, for children since 4 years, a profile of the public for whom there are now many offers in the park.

The economic return

During the presentation of these two new shows, the mayor of Prades, Lídia Bargas, highlighted the high economic return that the Parc Astronòmic Muntanyes de Prades provides for the territory.

Així, every year the venue will generate an economic impact of 310,000 euros and will attract more than 5,000 visitors. “I will continue to grow with the future astrophysical observatory at Pla de la Guàrdia, which will be self-sustaining from point zero”, he affirmed.

Bargas assures that the astronomical park is more involved in a municipal project, “but it is of territory and country” and that, of course, they will encourage these observation points from the four counties that embrace the Muntanyes de Prades, a territory that has recently obtained the certification as the largest protected fosc in Europe -amb a total of 32 municipalities.
