The 2022 Beach Tennis World Cup arrives at La Ràpita

The Garbí de la Ràpita beach will be the scene of the 2022 Beach Tennis World Cup of the International Federation of Beach Tennis (IFBT) that will take place on June 30 and July 1, 2 and 3.

A competition that will bring together more than 300 athletes of 20 nationalities from around the world where this sport is practiced, who will compete in the different established modalities throughout the four days of the tournament: female couples, male couples, mixed couples and individuals. In addition, in each modality there will be different categories: pro, advanced, intermediate and initial. There will also be age competitions (+30, +40 and +50).

But without a doubt, the most outstanding modality of the Beach Tennis World Championships is the competition by nations. This category brings together almost all the athletes in the competition, who participate defending their countries and nations. In the last edition, which took place on the island of Sardinia last summer, the Catalan delegation managed to become world champions.

La Ràpita has been the venue chosen by the Consells Esportius de Catalunya for its range of assets, such as its beaches, which are made up of fine, shallow sand that allow suitable sports practice for Beach Tennis. The natural space that surrounds the entire territory allows you to enjoy sports and the natural environment of the Delta and, in addition, stands out for its gastronomic offer, with a large volume of restaurants near the area where the competition will take place. Des dels Consells Esportius de Catalunya also highlight the importance that the involvement of the consistory has had in the organization of this World Cup.

The presentation was attended by Jaume Domingo, president of the Consells Esportius de Catalunya, Josep Caparrós, mayor of La Rápita, Àngela Reverté, local councilor for sports, and Joan Egea, president of the Beach Tennis International, who highlighted the importance of organize a world Beach Tennis event in Terres de l’Ebre and Catalunya. The president of the UCEC stressed that “Catalonia will once again participate as a nation in this championship and, therefore, Catalan athletes will be able to compete under the name of their country.” For his part, Caparrós explained that “it is an international event that wants to encourage the participation of beach tennis players.”
